What's in
It for You? | | You will be joining the society for a €15 lifetime membership fee to help fund asteroid research projects, but what's in it for you?
 | Time, the most precious commodity of all: you will essentially be buying time for our future. Or,
to put it another way, if we don't stop the
inevitable, our time could be up. |
 | Peace of mind
that you have done your bit. Joining is a simple, safe way to make a difference to asteroid research with a single, one-off fee filling a void that no government or authority
is seriously funding. Ultimately, this is about helping save the world!
|
 | Acknowledgment of your membership in the form of
a membership certificate, recognition on the FAIR Society website,
and inclusion of your name in the dedication of projects funded in part by your contribution.
|
 | Inclusion in an international, nondiscriminatory organization, crossing all boundaries using the Internet, that's doing something beneficial for humanity's future.
|
 | Knowledge that at least 95
percent of your contribution will go directly to the actual scientists who need the money
and will help fund a specific, cost-analysed project. It will not
disappear into some mysterious "charitable black hole" [more].
|
 | Gratitude of astronomers in the field ... and maybe even your grandchildren! |
What's not in it for you?
There is no further obligation, responsibility, or commitment. Nor will you receive further solicitations in any form. (We endorse an antispamming policy, and the society's progress can be followed online.) Our long-term goal is to have the members list included in any future defence mission to intercept asteroids. A similar idea was also recently used by NASA for their Rover mission to Mars
[more]. At present, though, we can only pledge inclusion "in the event of" as expressed in the original concept
[more]. (FAIR Society operates under charitable guidelines. Your membership fee may be tax deductible based on your governing laws.) | |
